When camping during the summer, one thing you don’t have to worry about is staying warm. Unfortunately, however, many camping trips are cut short due to cold weather as winter starts to set in. Some people are okay with taking a break from their camping trips, while others wish their travel trailers had specific amenities to help keep them warm.
Many travel trailers come with a furnace or two, which can get the job done. However, a furnace does not have the aesthetics that you can find in a fireplace. Sitting comfortably in your RV’s living room watching a movie at night with a fireplace keeping you warm feels more natural and is more appealing. But, can you find travel trailers with a fireplace?
Yes, many travel trailers come with a fireplace. However, it might not be what you are expecting. Having a wood-burning fireplace in an RV is not the safest way to keep your family warm. Instead, RV companies have decided to install electric or propane fireplaces in their RVs. These types of fireplaces are much safer, with the electric version being the safest.
While you can find plenty of travel trailers with a fireplace, they are most commonly found in luxury travel trailers. With that said, we have done the research and toured some fantastic travel trailers with fireplaces, and we have made a list of our favorites.

As you continue to read this article, we will discuss what type of fireplace you will find in travel trailers. Furthermore, we will go over the pros and cons of owning a travel trailer fireplace. Finally, we will provide a brief description of each of the travel trailers on our list.
What is a Travel Trailer Fireplace?
There is a plethora of RVs that are built to help you withstand the cold. Most of these RVs will have better insulation standards and some additional amenities to help keep you warm. These RVs are called four-season RVs, which means you can use them throughout the year. In addition, most four-season RVs will come equipped with one or two furnaces to warm things up a bit. However, you can sometimes find RVs that have a fireplace instead.
Fireplaces in RVs and travel trailers are not what you expect. Even with a chimney, burning wood in a tight and enclosed space is very unsafe. Because of this, travel trailer manufacturers have decided to build and install electric or propane fireplaces in RVs instead. These types of fireplaces are much safer than a wood-burning fireplace, with the electric version being the safest. Due to this, most travel trailers with a fireplace will have an electric variation, usually located in the entertainment center below the TV.
Most people are satisfied with a furnace keeping their RVs warm, but some people prefer the aesthetics a fireplace provides. Electric fireplaces are essentially glorified space heaters, but the addition of simulated fire on their display helps make you feel warm. Furthermore, electric fireplaces will usually come with multiple settings that let you adjust the temperature, fan speed, and even the color of the fire.
What are the Pros and Cons of Travel Trailers with a Fireplace?
If you are interested in owning a travel trailer with a fireplace, there are a few things you should know about. Furthermore, if you are unsure whether you want an electric fireplace in your travel trailer or not, this pros and cons list will help you decide.
Pros
- Electric fireplaces work independently from your travel trailer’s heater, which can help improve the lifespan of your RV.
- Electric fireplaces provide a small light show when turned on and can make your travel trailer’s living room look and feel better.
- Having a fireplace in your travel trailer will often increase its resale value.
- Most electric fireplaces run silently, and those that don’t are still very quiet.
Cons
- If you are not careful, you can easily overwhelm your travel trailer’s electricity by running too many high voltage appliances like the fireplace.
- Electric fireplaces are a luxury amenity and can increase the price of the RV by several thousands, depending on the quality of the fireplace.
- Smaller electric fireplaces might not provide enough heat to warm up the entire RV.
Travel Trailers that Come with a Fireplace
If you are dead set on owning an electric fireplace in your travel trailer, there are two ways you can make this happen. The first way is to purchase the fireplace separately and pay to have it installed in your travel trailer. Final Thoughts
Travel trailers are the most popular type of RV by far. Some of them are outfitted with electric fireplaces that give off comfortable heat and a beautiful display. While most travel trailers will come with a furnace to help keep everyone warm, some of the luxury travel trailers come with an electric fireplace. Electric fireplaces will cause travel trailers to be more expensive and are not for everybody. However, we think the simulated fire on the displays helps you feel warmer, the visuals can be fun to look at, and increases resale price in the future.
